Hi there, welcome to my first blog :-)
My real name is David Gross. I am a born and bred Londoner (UK) and I am 30 years old.
The reason for the name of the blog ("thekid08") is that I am avid fan of tournament poker - both offline and online - and when playing online, on most sites, I can be found playing under the screenname of thekid08. My biggest achievement as "thekid08" to date was to win two big online poker tournaments in the course of 24 hours in the process netting a profit of $150,000 (Dec 25th/26th 2005).
Aside from poker, my main passions are family, people, business creation, friendly argumentative discussion (on just about any topic), spiritual philosophy, travel and linguistics/communication.
Since graduating from Leeds University in 1998 (with an honours degree in History and Spanish) I have spent most of my time building a business I started with my pal Tony Plaskow called Easyodds (www.easyodds.com). In association with Easyodds and various other people, I have recently started another business called Poker Verdict (www.pokerverdict.com). In the coming years, I hope to branch outside of betting related industries and apply some of the business and enterpreneurial skills I have developed in other areas.
